It seems that the crisis of what has become known as the "Mule Media" series of articles in Egypt has almost ended after activists said that the author of the articles that caused great controversy closed his Facebook account.

During the past weeks, the Egyptians followed a series of articles by a professor of media at Cairo University, Ayman Mansour Nada, which he devoted to assessing the performance of a number of current media stars, and included sharp criticism of the Egyptian media, which sparked stormy reactions from famous broadcasters close to the Egyptian regime, and turning Nada into Investigation in the prosecution, and the university suspended him from work.

In his first comment after he was suspended from working at the university and referred for investigation by a decision by the Egyptian Attorney General, Nada published a new article yesterday, Wednesday, which he said was the last article, and directed it to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, before closing his Facebook account, where he suggested in this article the return of the Ministry of Information And exclude most of the current media faces.

Nada - who heads the Radio and Television Department at the Faculty of Media at Cairo University - said in his last article that in previous articles he presented a diagnosis of the problems of the Egyptian media and a description of some of the symptoms of his crisis, adding, "Now, I offer some of my perceptions of how to solve this problem so that the presentation is complete."

His criticisms crossed the red line ..

The beginning of the crisis

Social media activists anticipated the fate of Nada after he earlier deleted an article critical of the officer Ahmed Shaban, the head of the Egyptian intelligence director's office, who journalists say is the de facto editor-in-chief of all Egyptian media.

Days later, Nada wrote a fiery article in sarcastic language under the title "The Mule Media", in which he said that the Egyptian media "is a monster whose job it is to be a ride for those who have money and rule, or both," noting that "the mule media sometimes plays the role of an ambitious donkey that wants Achieving goals he is unable to achieve, so he is often defeated and wounded. "

The article talked about the head of the Supreme Council for Media, Karam Jaber, who accused him of failing to use his powers against those who were insulted and slandered earlier, describing it as a "complete model for mule media officials. The way he performs his job and his performance confirms that. The man is a lion when he speaks and an ostrich when he takes action." Decision, powerless. "

The beginning was about a month ago after Nada published a lengthy blog in which he criticized the lack of professionalism in the programs of some media professionals such as Ahmed Moussa, and the university professor published a lengthy blog entitled "Ahmed Moussa's Time" in which he criticized the pattern and performance of the Egyptian media based on receiving orders and instructions, which harms the image of the authority. Rather than beautify it.

Since then, the fuse of the battle has raged between media professionals affiliated with the authority and the university professor who was keen to explain that he is a supporter of the authority, and their programs - which are broadcast on the air - remained monopolized by one voice, while the latter resorted to his modest Facebook page, which sparked a wide solidarity campaign at home. And outside with the sound that "chirped out of tune."

Systematic campaign

The impact of these paragraphs was like pouring gasoline on the fire for Egyptian media institutions, so the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (official) issued a statement last Thursday announcing that he had submitted a criminal complaint to the Egyptian Attorney General against Nada, claiming that what he wrote represented crimes of insult and slander.

A few hours later, the National Press Authority in Egypt (official) came up and caught up with the media, and issued a statement accusing Nada of committing transgressions against a number of Egyptian media professionals and journalists.

The commission claimed that what Nada published contained a cursor "without any scruple of values and morals," calling on the faculty member at the College of Media to "adhere to professional standards and media honor charters, which he claims to be absent from the Egyptian media scene."

The National Council for Women went online and issued a statement on its Facebook page, after receiving a complaint from a female media figure - he did not name it - (Rania Hashem) complaining that the article contained insults and defamation, which constitutes a crime according to the Information Technology Law.

Offender or the victim

This collective movement of state media institutions and the entry of others on the line, pushing women into a battle in which they are neither a camel nor a sentence in the name of harming women, and the use of expressions by defamation, insults, inviolability, and even prejudice to her honor comes within an organized framework to silence Nada, according to his followers and supporters on the means. Social Media.

He asked Nada about the role of these institutions and their talk about professionalism and the crimes of insult and slander when the broadcaster Neshat Al-Daihi attacked him, describing him as a "backward, trivial liar, harasser, forger, brotherhood, mercenary pig," and he accused him of selling academic degrees to students.

Nada asked, directing his question to Karam Jabr, "Are you following up on what the two professors Ahmed Musa is doing and Nashat Al-Daihi violating all the rules and ethics of the media regarding Al-Abd Allah? Can you make a decision about these violations? Or have you not received instructions yet? Can you hurry this?" Instructions until it becomes clear to us?

He added sarcastically, "I apologize for having scratched the independence of the esteemed council, for harassing you of your superior patriotism, for holding you up to what you cannot bear, and for asking for things that fall outside the scope of your limited and specific powers," and concluded his speech by calling on Jabr to resign.

Cash from within the camp

In this regard, the former Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Media, Qutb Al-Arabi, says, "We are facing a system that has succeeded in nationalizing the media so that the vast majority of newspapers, channels and websites have become affiliated with its direct ownership. Therefore, this media system, with its institutions, broadcasters and directors, feels that it is an inseparable part of the system. It is now the most important part of it, and it does not accept any criticism that it receives from any party. "

Dr. Nada's articles gain their importance - according to Qutb - as they represent a voice opposing this system from within Egypt, but from within the same camp, and it is a voice that presents itself as a defender of the system mainly, but refuses to perform his media system, and he believes that it offends this system that he defends .

Al-Arabi assured in his speech to Al-Jazeera Net that the management of this media system (the Supreme Council for Media Regulation) does not consider itself responsible for media freedom as stipulated in the constitution and its founding laws, but considers itself responsible for protecting its men no matter what they make mistakes, and is even quick to support them when they are exposed to any criticism.

The Attorney General orders an investigation into the report of the Supreme Media Council against Dr. Ayman Mansour Nada, the professor at the Faculty of Information!

I advise him to file a report in the investigation against Nashat Al-Daihi, who has committed crimes against him that the law stipulates for imprisonment, so perhaps the law will take its course!
