Cologne (dpa) - The President of the North Rhine-Westphalian Teachers' Association, Andreas Bartsch, has spoken out in favor of compulsory corona testing in schools.

"It is a good idea because it is basically strange that we are now (...) experiencing a situation in schools where people who tested negative and those who had not tested sit together in a class," said Bartsch on Thursday on WDR.

Since the new mutants have a strong impact on the younger generation in particular, compulsory testing is essential in order to avoid school closings after the Easter break.

In the currently voluntary tests, around 20 to 30 percent of the students would not take part, said Bartsch.

"That would be at least every fifth student who goes to school untested."

Your parents may want to rule out a possible quarantine.

Testing every morning before entering school is unlikely to be achieved, but experts said that testing twice a week is enough, said Bartsch.
