Survey: When it comes to leadership, Söder is at the forefront - Union is on the decline

According to a survey, Markus Söder (CSU) and Annalena Baerbock (Greens) are most likely to be strong leaders and energetic among the Union and Greens candidates for the Chancellery.

66 percent of the respondents who know Armin Laschet (CDU), Markus Söder, Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck (both Greens) attribute leadership to the Bavarian Prime Minister Söder.

That was the result of a survey by the polling institute Yougov.

Only 13 percent say that about Armin Laschet and Robert Habeck, and about 26 percent about Annalena Baerbock.

With 59 percent, Söder also scores best when it comes to energy.

Only 25 percent describe the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Laschet as active, 30 percent say that about Baerbock and 22 percent about Habeck.

In terms of voter sympathy, both Green leaders are on par with 49 percent;

30 percent find Söder likeable, Laschet only 23.

Laschet leaves his competitors behind with his closeness to the citizens;

42 consider him to be close to the citizen, Söder only convinces 25 percent.

Baerbock and Habeck attribute this characteristic to 33 and 37 percent, respectively.

When it comes to expertise, the Greens' top scores: 42 percent consider Baerbock to be clever and sensible, 41 percent consider Habeck.

Söder ascribes 32 percent expertise, Laschet only 27 percent.

27 percent of those eligible to vote stated in the survey that they would vote for the CDU / CSU if there would be a general election next Sunday.

That is six percentage points less than in February.

The SPD makes up one point compared to the previous month and comes to 17 percent.

The Greens add three points and reach 21 percent.

The FDP ends up with two percentage points more at ten percent.

AfD and left remain unchanged at eleven and eight percent respectively.

The poll took place between March 25th and 29th.

2054 people were interviewed.

The question about the characteristics was: “Which of the following characteristics do you think apply to ...?” The following answers were available: sympathetic;

strong leadership, credible;

clever, sensible;

reasonable, close to the citizen;

active;

I do not know;

I do not know.
