The management of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth was today summoned to the Minister of Trade and Industry due to Assignment Review's disclosure of shortcomings in the authority's handling of support for short-term work.

According to business organizations, the shortcomings have left many companies without support.

Requires improvement

Ibrahim Baylan said yesterday that he did not know that there were 5,000 appealed cases at the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and that he wanted more information.

After the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Thursday met with the management of the authority, Ibrahim Baylan now demands action.

- It is obvious that the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth has failed, not least when it comes to handling appeals.

Now it is important that the authority takes strong measures to prevent it from happening again, says Ibrahim Baylan in a written comment to SVT.

- The authority presented at the meeting an action plan that we will follow up continuously to see that it has the desired effect.

The government has supported

Ibrahim Baylan also points out that the government has on several occasions given the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth funding to make it possible to handle the processes around short-term support.

- Support for short-term work is an important effort that has meant that many companies have been able to retain their employees through the crisis.

It is crucial that the handling of the support is legally secure and of high quality, says Baylan.
