01 April 2021 The 26-year-old Giuseppe Greco, who was subjected this morning to the interrogation of guarantee after the arrest for the double murder of Ciro Chirollo and Domenico Romano, has admitted to having told the false and has repeatedly apologized to the family of the victims which took place in Marano last Friday.

For the Naples North Public Prosecutor's Office and the Carabinieri, Greco rammed the Tmax scooter with his Smart on board the two men who had robbed him of the expensive Rolex watch shortly before.

This morning, supported by his lawyer Domenico Della Gatta, and in the presence of the deputy prosecutor Paolo Martinelli, Greco confessed to the investigating judge of North Naples Nicola Paone that he had hit the scooter with Chirollo and Romano on board, but that he had "no intention of kill them ".

"I just wanted to get the license plate."

The young man, who runs a clothing sales website with his girlfriend, explained that he had said falsehoods about the stages following the robbery.

He said that the bandits had taken his Rolex and his car "for fear of retaliation, so as not to disappoint my girlfriend and my family. I was wrong, try to understand me, I'm sick please help me".

Greco said that after having suffered the robbery by Chirollo and Romano, the latter had moved away.

"I too wanted to go home, then I passed them at the San Rocco roundabout, less than a kilometer away from the point of the robbery, and at that point I thought of chasing them, but not to kill them, but for the license plate; approaching a curve, I hit them and lost control of my Smart, which stopped after a few meters. The car was no longer working, so I got out, and didn't walk over their bodies as I read. Shortly after I met a boy on a scooter who took me back to the place of the robbery and then back home. So, with my brother, I went to the carabinieri. I'm shocked. If you want, I'll take you there ".

The prosecutor, at the end of the interrogation which lasted an hour and a half, asked the investigating judge to order the prison, while the lawyer Della Gatta made a request for house arrest, perhaps with an electronic bracelet.

The investigating judge will decide in the next few hours.

Videos and testimonies

Greco had been in jail since 30 March.

The videos acquired by the investigators and the statements made by some witnesses nailed him.

Several cameras had filmed the final part of the chase, the ramming without hint of braking by the Smart, the very violent impact against a wall of both vehicles, and also what happens after, when the driver of the car approaches the corpses. , gets back in the car, tries to restart it and then goes away on a scooter driven by a young man who was passing by.

Greco, initially, defended himself by telling the prosecutor Paolo Martinelli that he had suffered the robbery of the watch, the Smart and the money (200 euros never found), and that, therefore, he could not be driving when there was the 'impact.

A version that was full of gaps and contradictions, which prompted investigators to report him.

On record also a voice sent to his girlfriend: "I'm with my car, they stole their car, I went to see ... to see if I caught them, they crashed in the street of the Eternal Father, they killed themselves ..." .

Then there is the testimony of two security guards, who admitted to having seen Greco chasing the scooter at great speed.

In the meantime, an autopsy on the two corpses took place in the hospital of Giugliano in Campania which confirmed the deaths of Chirollo and Romano from trauma and fractures suffered.
