Fallersleben (dpa) - Due to the collision of two locomotives near Wolfsburg, there is a delay of 50 to 70 minutes on the Berlin-Hanover railway line.

Long-distance trains will be diverted and stop in Braunschweig instead of Wolfsburg, as a rail spokeswoman said on Thursday.

The railway expects that the rescue work and the delays of the long-distance trains will last all Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, a locomotive collided with the locomotive of a freight train at Fallersleben station, as a spokesman for the federal police said.

No one was injured.

One locomotive derailed, the other remained crooked on the rails.

The clean-up work is time-consuming: the vehicles have to be lifted and recovered with a special crane.

According to the federal police spokesman, the overhead lines are also affected.
