Berlin (dpa / bb) - In the middle of Berlin traffic, a police officer and a soldier clashed.

The two were on Thursday morning with their respective private cars coming from Kreuzberg in the direction of Tempelhof, the police said.

The 23-year-old police officer wanted to position himself on a narrowing stretch of the road using the zip principle, but the 49-year-old Bundeswehr soldier prevented him from doing so.

During the journey, a dispute broke out between the two of them at the window that was down, during which the soldier is said to have insulted the police officer several times in a xenophobic manner.

The 23-year-old then pulled out his ID card and asked the 49-year-old to stop at Attilaplatz.

There the soldier admitted the dispute to the officers who had been called, but denied having become xenophobic towards the police officer.

The exact course of the dispute is still being determined.
