Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Bottlenecks in the availability of corona rapid tests in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania should end soon, according to Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU).

He assumes that the delivery bottlenecks will abate quickly, said Glawe on Thursday evening in Schwerin.

At first he did not give a specific time.

Previously, the state pharmacy association had reported too few rapid tests.

"We cannot yet meet the demand," said Axel Pudimat, chairman of the state pharmacy association, of the German press agency on Thursday.

In his pharmacy in Rostock, around 100 rapid tests will be possible on Holy Saturday, the demand is many times that.

From next Tuesday onwards, mandatory testing will be expanded in the northeast.

In all parts of the state, with the exception of the Hanseatic city of Rostock, a negative test is then also necessary for shopping.

Since Wednesday, this has already been necessary in many places for body-hugging services such as hairdressers or cosmetic studios.

Because of the lower number of infections in a nationwide comparison, this should only apply in Rostock from April 10th.

According to the Ministry of Health, customers must have a corona test a maximum of 24 hours before the appointment - either in the pharmacy, in a rapid test center or with a purchased self-test on site.

It is then crucial that the self-test is carried out in front of the person who performs the service.
