Halle (dpa / sa) - The Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle will not open on Saturday as planned.

Neuenburg Castle and Goseck Castle (Burgenlandkreis) will also remain closed until further notice.

The Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt announced this on Thursday.

"Due to the steadily increasing corona numbers in the Burgenland district and in the city of Halle, we can no longer answer for an opening," explained General Director Christian Philipsen.

On the other hand, the museums of the cultural foundation in the Harz district should open on Holy Saturday as planned.

These include the Lyonel Feininger Gallery in Quedlinburg, Falkenstein Castle, the Cathedral Treasury in Halberstadt and the Michaelstein Monastery.

Visitors must book online tickets.

According to the Cultural Foundation, wearing an FFP2 mask is compulsory in museums.

Distance and hygiene rules apply.

The number of visitors is limited.

The opening times of the museums have been changed due to additional cleaning and disinfection work.
