Erfurt (dpa / th) - Before the long Easter weekend, the corona situation in Thuringia continued to worsen.
From Wednesday to Thursday (midnight), the health authorities reported 1293 new infections, as the State Ministry of Health announced.
This is a similarly high level as at the height of the second wave of pandemics around the turn of the year.
The seven-day value for new infections per 100,000 inhabitants (incidence) increased to 254, making Thuringia the worst corona hotspot among the federal states.
In the district of Greiz, the district most severely affected by the pandemic in Germany, the incidence value, according to the Robert Koch Institute, was almost 600 (599.6).
With an incidence value of 440, the Wartburg district follows in second place.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,338 people infected with the coronavirus have died in Thuringia.
A total of around 95,400 were infected. 176 Covid 19 sufferers were treated in intensive care units on Thursday.
82 600 are considered recovered.
