Lübeck (dpa / lno) - Customs officers seized around five million smuggled cigarettes during a check at the Skandinavienkai in Lübeck-Travemünde.
As the main customs office in Kiel announced on Wednesday, the officials had checked a truck in mid-March that was supposed to be transporting pasta from Germany to Sweden.
In fact, only the boxes in the doorway contained noodles, while the rear boxes contained unpaid cigarettes.
The driver of the truck must now answer in court for attempted tax evasion.
He was taken into custody.
