Braunschweig (dpa / lni) - In a fire in a student residence in Braunschweig, the residents of a shared apartment lost their quarters.

There were no injuries, as the fire department announced.

On Wednesday at lunchtime, a resident saw smoke from under the door of a neighbor and alerted the fire department.

Since the whereabouts of at least one person was unclear, the operation was triggered with the keyword “fire with human lives in danger”.

The student also warned all residents of the building, so that when the rescue workers arrived, the dormitory was almost completely cleared.

Up to 30 residents would then have been in front of the house, according to a spokesman for the situation service.

The room burned out almost completely.

The criminal police began investigating the cause of the fire.

The flatmates were accommodated in guest rooms or with friends.
