Recently, the latest figures released by the Greek Statistics Office show that the rate of shrinking of the Greek population in 2020 has set a record since 1932.

According to reports, nine months after Greece’s first blockade, the birth rate from November to December 2020 has dropped by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2019.

The Secretary-General of the Greek Ministry of Interior Stavrian Nudakis said that the data showed that the epidemic blockade failed to make the Greek youth of childbearing age decide to settle down and have children. The reason was related to the huge economic difficulties and social instability caused by the epidemic.
