Bremen / Berlin (dpa / lni) - As of Friday, the small federal states of Bremen and Saarland had the highest proportion of their population vaccinated against the corona virus to date.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin, 13.1 percent of citizens received the first vaccination in both countries.

Bremen, at 5.2 percent, was slightly higher than the Saarland (4.6 percent) when it came to second vaccinations.

The front runner with the second vaccinations on Friday was Saxony with 5.9 percent.

In Bremen, according to the RKI, 89,400 doses of the vaccine have been administered as the first vaccination and 35,160 doses as the second vaccination.

One of the reasons why the city of Bremen is making rapid progress with vaccinations is because the health authorities, relief organizations and local businesses have jointly set up a very large vaccination center.
