Bonn / Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Five applications with German participation are on the agenda at the next meeting of the Unesco World Heritage Committee in the summer - including several that relate to Rhineland-Palatinate.

As the German Unesco Commission announced, the meeting will be held online from July 16 to 31 due to the corona pandemic.

It was originally supposed to take place in Fuzhou, China, in 2020, but has been canceled.

From Germany, the Mathildenhöhe artists' colony in Darmstadt and places from the Jewish Middle Ages in Speyer, Mainz and Worms have been proposed for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Another proposal jointly with Belgium, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria and the Czech Republic concerns important European baths of the 19th century.

Bad Ems, Bad Kissingen and Baden-Baden are from Germany.

At the joint application of Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany, the Roman Danube Limes border wall is to be recognized as a world heritage site.

The Netherlands and Germany apply for the same for the Lower Germanic Limes.

The list of Unesco world heritage sites currently includes 1,121 cultural and natural sites, 46 of which are from Germany.
