Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The Hessian state capital Wiesbaden wants to become a model city for the controlled lifting of corona-related restrictions despite a contrary decision by the state government.

The city is still ready for such a project, said Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende (SPD) on Tuesday.

The state government's decision was made on Tuesday for Baunatal, Alsfeld and Dieburg.

"Of course we regret this decision," said Mende.

"We understand that in view of the increasing number of infections and the associated risk, the country only allows very limited and cautious models."

However, the impression should not be created that "room for maneuver is being opened up that is actually denied".

Wiesbaden had an incidence of 99.1 corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days on Tuesday.

In the whole of Hesse there were 140.9.
