The fate of the shipping giant, the container transport vessel "Ever Given", which was liberated recently after it ran aground in the Suez Canal a week ago and closed one of the most important waterways in the world, is still questioned.

And after its liberation after strenuous attempts, on Monday, the ship was transferred to the Bitter Lakes region located between the northern and southern entrances of the Suez Canal;

To assess the damage before completing its course as soon as possible, according to the ship's owner.

Egyptian press sources present in the Canal Zone told Al-Jazeera Net that the fate of the giant ship has not yet been determined.

Because she is still subjected to extensive technical checks, especially after she was exhausted by multiple attempts at traction over the past days.

The press source explained that, in parallel, the Suez Canal Authority is carrying out its investigations of the causes of the ship’s delinquency and its closure of the canal, and that these investigations are being conducted in cooperation with the company that owns the ship, in order to find out the real causes of its delinquency.

The press source added, quoting a marine guidance official, that the investigations will include listening to the audio recordings and examining them, in order to find out the causes of the error, whether it is due to the presence of navigation devices or malfunctioning guidance, or another reason related to the captain.

He stressed that the reason known so far is the bad weather during the passage of the ship, indicating that it is not possible to predict when the ship will leave until the completion of its examination, to ensure its safety, and the conclusion of the investigations that are carried out urgently and intensely.

In the meantime;

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi visited the canal area today, Tuesday, in a message to the world, who was waiting for the end of the crisis, and said, "Navigation in the Suez Canal has returned safely and with the same efficiency it was before the crisis."

In response to media reports about alternatives to the Suez Canal, Sisi said while inspecting the Maritime Training Center of the Suez Canal, that the canal was rooted in the conscience of the global trade industry, and that it is capable, enduring and competitive.

He added that 12% or 13% of the volume of trade passes through the Suez Canal, indicating that there is no alternative to the canal.

Because it is a global facility for trade.

It takes about 3 and a half days for the congested ships, the number of which are more than 400, to pass due to the delinquency of the giant container ship, according to the statements of Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Rabie said that 113 ships would cross the canal in both directions on Tuesday morning, following the resumption of navigation in it.

Evergiven diverted and closed the canal with a display in a southern sector of it, on Tuesday morning, March 23, due to strong winds.

This resulted in a halt in shipping traffic on the shortest shipping route between Europe and Asia.
