US withdraws most of its diplomats from Myanmar

Only those whose work is urgently needed cannot be evacuated.

On March 29, the U.S. trade mission suspended all contacts with Myanmar as part of a trade and investment agreement between the countries in 2013.

The suspension will remain in effect "until the return of the democratically elected government" of Myanmar, the US trade department said.
