The UNESCO-United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has decided to hold the World Heritage Committee, which had been postponed due to the spread of the new coronavirus, online in July.

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee was scheduled to meet in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China from June to July last year, but it could not be held due to the spread of the new coronavirus, and it was decided to postpone it.



The World Heritage Committee held a special meeting on the 29th to discuss this, and as a result, decided to do it online from July 16th to 31st.



The World Heritage Committee is planning to review the two years' worth of projects last year.



Regarding Japan's proposal, Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima in Kagoshima Prefecture, which are aiming to be registered as World Natural Heritage, forests in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa and Iriomote Island in Okinawa Prefecture, and "Hokkaido", which is aiming to be registered as a World Cultural Heritage・ Two cases of "Jomon Archaeological Sites in the northeastern part of Japan" are expected to be examined.
