Hanover (dpa / lni) - The Lower Saxony Ministry of Transport has presented a concept to strengthen bicycle traffic, with which its share is to be increased to 20 percent by 2025.

Transport Minister Bernd Althusmann (CDU) announced on Tuesday in Hanover that the construction of cycle paths should be promoted more strongly and cycling should become safer.

"Bicycles are no longer a marginal phenomenon in everyday traffic, but an expression of climate-friendly and individual mobility that more and more people are using."

The bicycle mobility concept should sustainably support this development.

The concept includes almost 50 measures in seven fields of action, which are to be implemented gradually over the coming years.

In addition to the expansion of cycle paths, the focus is on links to other modes of transport, road safety and cycle tourism.
