Berlin / Böblingen (dpa / lsw) - Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn has announced that, in view of the sharp rise in the number of corona infections, he will do without Easter celebrations in the family this year.

"The family visit is also canceled this year, or is taking place digitally," said the CDU politician on Tuesday in an online switch with journalists, which was primarily about the test model in the Böblingen district.

Spahn called on people to shut down all contacts “as much as possible” over Easter - “as difficult as it is”.

Spahn praised sophisticated corona test models, for example in Böblingen, Tübingen or Rostock.

Infrastructures were created there that made extensive corona tests possible.

The tests could help to secure opening steps, for example with a view to outdoor catering or theater visits.

The current wave of corona infections cannot be defeated by tests alone - the most important thing here is to minimize personal contacts.

Böblingen introduced a comprehensive rapid test offer in the district at the beginning of February.

At least two free quick tests per person per week are offered in five test centers and numerous attached places as well as short waiting times and a quick digitally transmitted result.

In the meantime, people in other parts of Germany also have the opportunity to be tested for the corona virus at least once a week for free.
