A 28-year-old policeman was sentenced Tuesday to three months suspended prison sentence in Marseille for voluntary violence on a fifty-something, injured on the sidelines of a demonstration against police violence in which he had not participated.

The judge acceded to his request not to enter this conviction in bulletin n ° 2 of his criminal record, "which allows him to remain in the public administration provided that disciplinary proceedings are not initiated against him, this which is not the case at this stage ”, commented his lawyer Me Myriam Greco.

The fact remains that his client "accuses the blow" even if Me Greco recognizes that "the court took into account the context of intervention".

A sentence lower than the requisitions

The sentence is slightly lower than the requisitions at the hearing on February 18, where the prosecutor had asked for four months in prison.

"It's really not much in relation to the damage suffered," said the victim's lawyer, Me Clémence Lachkar.

On June 6, 2020, night had almost fallen and the demonstration against police violence widely dispersed when the victim, 51, returned home, after celebrating her son's birthday in a bar.

Keys in hand, he walks past a police van parked near La Canebière and seems to hit the vehicle twice.

No damage will be noted, but the police officer convicted Tuesday, removing his protective equipment, stands up and intervenes.
