He receives a five-year prison sentence and will have to pay a fine of 100,000 dinars (30,000 euros).

The Franco-Tunisian rapper Swagg Man, who made himself known by showing off tickets and jewelry and tattooing the Louis Vuitton logo on his head, was sentenced by Tunisian justice for fraud and money laundering.

Iteb Zaibet of his real name, aged 34 and from Nice, had seen his notoriety grow on social networks by displaying his "bling-bling" lifestyle, before touring the television sets, in France and in Tunisia.

Suspected of defrauding fans

The rapper had been in detention in Tunisia since July 2019 for suspicious transfers to his account from Switzerland.

Suspected of having defrauded fans, he has also been under an arrest warrant from French justice since November 2019 for breach of trust.

Another man, a European national, was convicted in the same case in Tunisia, but he is on the run, said the deputy prosecutor general of the Tunis court of first instance, Mohsen Dali.

The funds seized in euros and Swiss francs, representing approximately the equivalent of 17 million dinars (more than five million euros), were confiscated.

Swagg Man had said on Instagram that he planned to build a mosque, an orphanage and a hotel with these funds, the provenance of which is unknown.
