Dresden (dpa / sn) - The new corona rules for Saxony from April 1 will meet with different echoes in politics.

The Dresden FDP member of the Bundestag Torsten Herbst criticized the "permanent lockdown loop without perspective" and the decisions of the cabinet: "The impression arises that the black-green-red state government just wants to sit out the pandemic."

Herbst suggested that Saxony should give all citizens a second free quick test per week in order to break the chains of infection.

Saxony wants to maintain the key lockdown measures in the new Corona Protection Ordinance, but will increasingly rely on tests in the future - from hairdressers to shopping with an appointment to schools and daycare centers.

The tests should also enable schools and daycare centers to open after Easter - regardless of the incidence.

"The massive use of quick and self-tests can only complement the pandemic fight and will not prevent the hospitals in the Free State of Saxony from becoming overloaded," said Rico Gebhardt, chairman of the left-wing parliamentary group in the state parliament, assessing the results.

He warned of "catastrophic conditions" in the intensive care units and urged more effort to vaccinate.

SPD MP Sabine Fiedel, on the other hand, welcomes the decision to open daycare centers and schools after Easter regardless of the number of infections.

«Education is a food, especially for children and young people.

It is not for nothing that grocery stores, medical practices or local public transport remain open regardless of the incidence. "

At the same time, she called for the planned opening to be accompanied by monitoring.

If individual daycare centers or schools develop into a source of infection, they must be closed quickly.

AfD parliamentary group leader Jörg Urban described the tightening of the corona measures as wrong.

It is wrong that around ten-year-old school children have to wear a mask for hours.

The cabinet had agreed that masks should be required from the fifth grade onwards, even in class.
