Karlsruhe (dpa) - The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe announced its verdict on Tuesday (10.30 a.m.) on inadmissible arms deliveries to unrest in Mexican provinces.

Heckler & Koch employees obtained the export permits from the German authorities by illegally specifying uncritical recipient regions.

In this way, from 2006 to 2009, the armaments company sold more than 4,200 G36 assault rifles, including accessories, to Mexico for around 3.7 million euros.

There, in turn, the central procurement office sold the weapons to the police in provinces from which human rights violations are reported.

The Stuttgart regional court sentenced two former employees to probation in 2019.

Both want to achieve an acquittal with their revisions, the Federal Prosecutor's Office is aiming for tougher sentences.

The acquittals of three other defendants are already final.

The two alleged main culprits were not on trial in Stuttgart.

One died in 2015, the other, according to his lawyer, too sick to travel from Mexico.

In addition, the BGH comments on the question of how much Heckler & Koch has to pay.

The district court had ordered the collection of the entire sales proceeds.

The company wants production and transportation costs to be deducted.
