Leipzig (dpa / sn) - After the renewed confusion about the Astrazeneca vaccine, the Medical Board at Leipzig University Hospital (UKL) welcomed the review of the current vaccination recommendation.

In addition, he advocates a suitable risk assessment, said Prof. Christoph Josten on Tuesday on request.

On Tuesday, Berlin and Brandenburg had suspended corona vaccinations with Astrazeneca for people under 60 for the time being, according to new data on side effects.

According to Josten, there are currently no primary vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine in women under 45 years of age at the UKL.

Before that, however, more than 1000 employees at the clinic had received the first vaccination with this vaccine.

"The confidence in the vaccination is generally very high at the UKL, the vaccination appointments offered, also with Astrazeneca, were always fully taken", emphasized Josten.

In contrast, no Astrazeneca is injected at the University Hospital in Dresden.

The federal and state health ministers want to discuss how to deal with the Astrazeneca vaccine on Tuesday evening.

The background to this were cases of cerebral vein thrombosis that became known after vaccinations, especially in women.

The state of Berlin had stopped vaccinations with Astrazeneca in people under 60 years of age.

Several clinics also announced vaccination breaks.
