, for the time being, people under the age of 60 are no longer vaccinated against the coronavirus with the Astrazeneca vaccine.
The Berlin Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) announced on Tuesday in Berlin that the vaccinations for this group would be suspended.
She justified this with further cases of side effects associated with the vaccination.
Kalayci said she wanted to wait and see how the vaccination commission's new recommendation was.
In addition, she wants to exchange ideas with the Federal Ministry of Health about how to deal with the second vaccination of this age group who have already received a first dose of Astrazeneca.
The state of
Brandenburg also
suspended vaccinations for people under the age of 60 for the time being.
The stop applies from Tuesday, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Health.
The decision was agreed with the vaccination logistics staff.

Munich
no more people under 60 will be vaccinated with Astrazeneca until further notice.
"Due to current developments, the city has decided, like Berlin, to suspend vaccinations with Astrazeneca for people under 60 as a precautionary measure until the question of possible vaccination complications for this group of people has been clarified," said a spokesman for the city on Tuesday.
This applies above all to the planned vaccinations in the vaccination center and in the Isar clinic.
The vaccinations in the elderly and service centers could continue.

The
district of Heinsberg
in North Rhine-Westphalia also changed the vaccination with immediate effect: women under the age of 55 now received the vaccine from Biontech without exception, the district announced, and the district of Euskirchen had already decided similarly yesterday.
Thuringia,
on the other hand, does not want to restrict vaccinations for the time being.
For Thuringia, no clinic is known that has stopped vaccination, it said on Tuesday at the request of the German press agency from the Ministry of Health.
The state of Berlin had previously announced the suspension of corona vaccinations with the manufacturer's vaccine for people under 60 years of age.
"I don't think it's justified"
The decision is understood differently in science.
"I think this is a good decision," said Bernd Pötzsch, the deputy director of the Institute for Experimental Hematology and Transfusion Medicine at the Bonn University Hospital, opposite WELT.
"Because young women are particularly at risk and it is a life-threatening disease." In older people, however, it is very unlikely that such a complication will occur.
According to the current state of knowledge, the same is probably also true for young men.

Professor Peter Kremsner, Head of the Clinic for Internal Medicine at the University of Tübingen, has a different opinion.
Kremsner, who is involved in the development of the Curevac vaccine, told WELT: “I don't think it's justified.” He assesses the safety of all four vaccines approved in the EU as “comparable”.
Health ministers discuss the AstraZeneca mission at 6 p.m.
The federal and state health ministers want to hold a special meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss how to deal with the vaccine from the manufacturer Astrazeneca.
Kalayci announced this at noon.
The Standing Vaccination Commission wants to make a new recommendation.
In addition, a current assessment of the Paul Ehrlich Institute is expected, said Kalayci.
31 cases of sinus vein thrombosis after vaccination with AstraZeneca have now been reported to the Paul Ehrlich Institute.
The institute announced this at the request of “Spiegel”.
In 19 cases, a lack of blood platelets, a thrombocytopenia, was reported.
Those affected died in nine cases.
It is noticeable that men were only affected in two cases, a 36-year-old and a 57-year-old.
According to the PEI, all other reports concern women aged 20 to 63 years.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, around 2.7 million people in Germany have been vaccinated with Vaxzevria.
According to vaccination monitoring data from eight federal states, women under the age of 70 make up two thirds of those vaccinated so far.
Note: In an earlier version we wrote that Berlin had only stopped vaccinations for women under 60. We apologize for any inconvenience.
