Today, Tuesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed his regret for the human rights situation in the world "which continues to go in the wrong direction," but pledged to defend it "even with the United States' partners."

"We will use all the tools of our diplomacy to defend human rights and hold accountable those who commit violations," he said while presenting the US State Department’s annual report on human rights.

The US State Department report accused China of arbitrary killing, enforced disappearance, torture and detention of more than a million people from the Muslim Uyghur minority.

"The Uyghur and other minorities have been subjected to genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang," the report said.

The US Secretary of State condemned the suppression by the armed forces of Myanmar of protesters opposing the military coup.

On the situation in Egypt, the report said that human rights violations included arbitrary extrajudicial killings by the government and terrorist groups.

He said that violations in Iran included killings, executions without a fair trial, and enforced disappearances.

The report stated that Iranian officials committed human rights violations in Iraq, Yemen and Syria by supporting militias.

The US State Department accused the Saudi authorities of using anti-corruption campaigns as a pretext to target political opponents.

She said, "Riyadh has committed human rights violations, such as unlawful killings, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary detention."

According to the report, the Yemeni government, the Houthis, and the Emiratis committed violations and torture.

The report said that all parties in Yemen carried out unlawful or arbitrary killings.
