Dresden (dpa / sn) - In Saxony, vaccinations are also carried out on the Easter holidays.

The vaccination centers had opened, said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health on Monday on request.

Free appointments can be viewed and booked online.

In the live overview, according to the current status of Monday noon, there are only a few appointments in the dozen or so vaccination centers.

But that could change every minute, said the ministry spokeswoman.

Over the weekend, for example, the German Red Cross activated around 30,000 appointments.

But these were taken within a few hours.

The Astrazeneca product is vaccinated in the vaccination centers.

According to an overview from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), more than 609,000 first and second vaccinations have been administered in Saxony to date.

With a good 382,000 first vaccinations, the Free State has a vaccination rate of 9.4 percent, which is below the national average (10.8 percent).

When it comes to second vaccinations, however, Saxony leads the country with a rate of 5.6 percent.
