Weimar (dpa / th) - According to the city, the model experiment to open retail stores and museums in the Corona crisis started in Weimar without too much rush.

"So far it has gotten off to a good start, the dealers opened with a lot of anticipation after several months," said a spokesman for the city administration on Monday afternoon.

However, there were queues at the test centers.

In order to be able to shop in the shops, customers must show a current negative Corona test result.

In-store employees must also test negative.

The test centers opened at 7 a.m. and the shops at 10 a.m.

Distance rules, hygiene measures and the obligation to wear a face-to-face mask apply in the shops.

In the city itself there was no mass rush until noon, the city spokesman reported.

"There are already more people on the road than before in lockdown - it feels like normal times."

The project should run up to and including Wednesday.

Weimar is the first municipality in Thuringia to implement a concept to test whether such openings - combined with tests and under other conditions - are justifiable in the pandemic.
