Tübingen (dpa / lsw) - The seven-day incidence in Tübingen with its model project with easing through mass testing has increased significantly.

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week was last at 35, as a city spokeswoman said on Monday.

The spokeswoman referred to the number of new infections reported by the district office at city level for the city of Tübingen last Thursday.

The week before, the value was 23.

The incidence is calculated by the city itself.

This value is due to the population of around 90,000 and recently 32 new infections in one week, it said.

Infection numbers at community level are only published weekly by the Tübingen District Office.

Tübingen's Lord Mayor Boris Palmer (Greens) and the pandemic officer Lisa Federle had called on citizens to get tested at least twice a week in view of the increasing number of infections.

"The number of cases is increasing in our city too," said the two of them on Sunday.

The seven-day incidence is considered to be one of the most important indicators for the course of the infection and is used in Tübingen by the city as an indicator for the effectiveness of the model project as a distinction to the incidence of the entire district.

In the Tübingen district, the number of infections has risen sharply as the more contagious variants of the coronavirus have spread.

The region was recently just below the value of 100 for the seven-day incidence.

If the incidence rises in circles above the value of 100 for three days in a row, they have to pull a so-called emergency brake and take back easing for trade and leisure.

A night exit restriction can also be imposed in this case.
