According to the majority of respondents (61%), law enforcement agencies should fight unscrupulous Internet sellers.

At the same time, 11% of Russians note that the buyer himself must be attentive and rely primarily on his own strength.

13% and 12% of respondents said that providers and marketplaces have a leading role in confronting fraudsters.

NAFI analysts noted that online trading fraud can take many forms, from simple deception with non-delivery of goods or non-payment of a purchase to phishing, scam, and other social engineering techniques.

Fraudsters can impersonate sellers or buyers on well-known online platforms.

They also create fake sites disguising themselves as well-known web resources. 

Earlier it became known that the number of crimes in the field of information and telecommunication technologies in January 2021 in Russia increased by 32% compared to the same period last year.

In total, during this period, 37.2 thousand such crimes were registered.
