“In commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the city of Nizhny Novgorod, I decide to establish a jubilee medal“ In memory of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod, ”the decree says.
The medal will be made of brass, on the obverse there will be a fragment of the wall of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the cathedral in the name of the holy noble Prince Alexander Nevsky and the Archangel Michael Cathedral, and on the reverse - the coat of arms of Nizhny Novgorod with a laurel and oak branch.
The jubilee medal will be awarded to residents of Nizhny Novgorod - participants in the Great Patriotic War, holders of orders and medals of the USSR for valiant labor during the war, home front workers, as well as residents who made a significant contribution to the development of the city.
In January 2020, on the Day of Breaking the Siege of Leningrad, Putin presented for the first time the first four medals "75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."
