Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The State Hunting Association demands a shooting right for certain wolves.

"We observe with concern during our stays in nature that the wolf's natural fear of us humans is disappearing," the association announced on Monday.

In some cases, wolves have already attacked hunting dogs.

In addition, there would be attacks on livestock such as sheep.

The hunting association therefore demands to be allowed to shoot wolves under certain conditions.

"Experience from other countries has shown that where the wolf is hunted, the wolf's respect for humans increases again," the statement said.

This avoids contact with people.

The protection of species, which has so far protected wild predators from being shot, is no longer an argument in view of the recent strong spread, the hunters believe: “In our opinion, we have now clearly reached a number in Germany and Saxony-Anhalt that is good for Conservation of the species is sufficient », it says in the communication.

The hunting association therefore demands to be allowed to shoot wolves that threaten them or their dogs.

Animals that are responsible for a large number of cracks should also be released for shooting.

In addition, the hunters demand “proper stock control and hunting”.

However, the hunters do not want to drive the animal that has returned home entirely from Germany.

"We would like to emphasize that we hunters are not concerned with the extermination of the wolf that has returned," says the message.

The wolf had spread again in Saxony-Anhalt in recent years.

In December, the country knew of 19 packs of wolves and two pairs of wolves with a total of at least 134 animals.
