Cairo / Hamburg (dpa) - The Hamburg shipping company Hapag-Lloyd assumes that journeys through the Suez Canal, which is open again, will be resumed on Monday evening.

It is not yet clear whether and which ships would be prioritized for the passage, the shipping company announced on its website on Monday.

But you assume that the traffic jam will be resolved within four days.

According to the canal authority, around 370 ships were waiting for passage on both sides of the canal.

Financial news service Bloomberg reported 450 ships stuck in traffic on Monday.

Several shipping companies had already started sending their ships across the Cape of Good Hope in Africa.

According to the shipping company, nine Hapag-Lloyd ships are affected by the accident on the 400-meter-long “Ever Given”, which is now ready to sail again.

Another six ships from other shipping companies with Hapag-Lloyd containers on board would have taken the detour via the Cape of Good Hope as part of the partnership.
