The trial against police officer Chauvin begins on Monday and differs from the crowd in many ways.

It will be broadcast live from the court in Minneapolis, few people are allowed to be in the courtroom due to the pandemic and the public interest is huge.

George Floyd's family held a press conference outside the court in Minneapolis ahead of the start of the trial.

"George Floyd lived, breathed, could walk and could breathe before the police turned his face and handcuffed him," said the family's lawyer Ben Crump.

He continued:

"The trial is a landmark, a referendum on how far the United States has come in its quest for equality and justice for all," said the family's lawyer, Ben Crump.

"Torture"

Crump said police put a knee on George Floyd's neck for nearly ten minutes.

- This murder case is not difficult, if you watch the torture video.

According to the Geneva Convention, this was torture, said lawyer Ben Crump.

He stressed that it is a racial issue.

- The family deserves justice.

Blacks do not deserve "partial justice".

Attorney Crump said there was a smear campaign against the dead Floyd.

- This is the trial against Derek Chauvin, not against George Floyd.

- George Floyd killed no one.

Derek Chauvin was the one who killed George Floyd.

The family then went down on their knees.
