Euskirchen (dpa / lnw) - After the death of a 47-year-old woman, the Euskirchen district reported the case to the Paul Ehrlich Institute in order to investigate a possible connection with the corona vaccination of the woman.

As a spokesman for the district administration said on Monday, the woman had been vaccinated with the active ingredient from Astrazeneca.

He did not provide any further details of her death.

According to the district, the case was reported to the health department last Friday by the doctor in charge of the regional vaccination center, who had received the information from the treating clinic.

Investigations were then immediately initiated and the responsible state and federal authorities were informed.

District Administrator Markus Ramers (SPD) is in contact with the relatives, according to the district.

"Regardless of the official investigation," Ramers also phoned NRW Minister of Health Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) on Saturday, "in order to promote rapid and complete clarification."

According to the district administration, initial results made it unnecessary to block the entire batch of vaccines, as there was nothing to indicate contamination or incorrect composition of the vaccine.

There is also no suspicion of incorrect use.

The vaccinations in the district continue.
