Two days away from a decisive Health Defense Council around the Head of State, the figures linked to the Covid-19 epidemic in France are not good.

The country has, Monday, March 29, 4,974 patients with Covid-19 in intensive care according to the French public health agency, an increase of 102 patients over one day.

Even if this figure remains clearly below the peak of the first wave, in the spring of 2020 (around 7,000 patients in intensive care), it exceeds the threshold of 4,903 Covid-19 patients in intensive care at the peak of the second wave, last November 6.

In total, 28,322 patients infected with the coronavirus are currently hospitalized, according to Public Health France.

In 24 hours, the country recorded 360 additional deaths attributed to Covid-19 in hospitals, according to official data, which shows a death toll of 94,956 since the start of the health crisis.

No drop in sight

In March, the epidemic progressed almost everywhere in France, pushed by the English variant, considered more contagious and more virulent.

And the virus circulation indicators do not yet show the hoped-for lull.

The epidemic outbreak, between 40,000 and 50,000 patients tested positive every day last week, does not augur an immediate drop in hospital admissions and causes the increase in alarm signals and calls from doctors for medical help. stricter measures.

This week promises to be decisive in getting the country out of the third wave of the epidemic.

The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, said Sunday in an interview with the Journal du dimanche that "nothing" had been decided on a possible additional turn of the screw in the 19 most affected departments, including those of Île-de -France.
