Wang Yi: The human rights view of some western countries does not represent the international human rights view

Xinhua News Agency, Abu Dhabi, March 28. On March 28 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah in Abu Dhabi.

When talking about human rights issues, Wang Yi said that the human rights situation of a country should be judged by its own people, not by other countries based on their own likes and dislikes.

The human rights outlook of some Western countries does not represent the international human rights outlook. The world should listen to and absorb the opinions of developing countries to make the definition of human rights more comprehensive, rich and balanced.

We must attach importance to political and social rights as well as the right to survival and development; we must emphasize democracy and freedom as well as fairness and justice.

Different countries have different civilizations and traditions, different stages of development, and different understandings of human rights. This is actually normal.

Because of this, we believe that countries can conduct equal exchanges and learn from each other on human rights issues.

China opposes interference in other countries' internal affairs under the banner of human rights, and even opposes the use of human rights issues as a political tool to arbitrarily attack and discredit other countries.

There is no superior country in this world, and the standards of a country should not be regarded as international standards.

If some Western countries insist on using human rights as an excuse to contain and suppress developing countries, and attempt to deprive non-Western countries of their development rights, this would be the greatest injustice in the history of human progress.

China is willing to conduct dialogues with Afghanistan on human rights issues and jointly promote the cause of human rights progress in both countries and the world.

Abdullah said that the standard for measuring human rights should be whether a country’s people are happy and peaceful.

Imposing one's own values on others is also a manifestation of hegemony.

On the issue of human rights, many developing countries have suffered unfair treatment.

The UAE side is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation on human rights with China to jointly promote and protect human rights.
