Egyptian media reported that the death toll from the collapse of an apartment building at dawn Saturday in the Al-Salam neighborhood, east of the Egyptian capital, has risen to 25.

Al-Ahram newspaper (government) reported on its website that the Civil Protection Forces in Cairo managed to retrieve more bodies from under the rubble of the collapsing drug, "bringing the number of deaths to 25, and the number of injured to 25."

The last announced death toll from the accident was 18 people, along with 23 injured, in the collapse of the 10-storey building in the Gesr El Suez area in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

On Sunday, Al-Ahram newspaper indicated that the search for other victims and their extraction from under the rubble of the stricken building continues.

And Saturday, the Egyptian authorities announced the collapse of the 10-storey building at dawn, without revealing the number of residents present at the time in the property.

The reasons for the collapse of the property and the number of its residents were not officially announced, but the private newspaper, Al-Watan, said, citing unnamed sources, that modifications to the foundations of the property were the main reason for its collapse, which could not be confirmed from an official source.

This incident came after a collision of two trains that occurred on Friday in Sohag Governorate in Upper Egypt, which resulted in dozens of people being killed or injured.

This coincided with the crisis of the ship that ran aground in the Suez Canal, which caused its closure since last Tuesday and disrupted navigation in the canal for the fourth consecutive day, at a time when efforts are continuing to float it.
