• Venezuela Guaidó, infected with Covid at the worst moment of the pandemic

The revolutionary Foreign Ministry announced this afternoon the arrival in Caracas of

Cristina Gallach

, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, who decided to unexpectedly extend her tour from Central America to Venezuela.

The person in charge of receiving it was the Vice Chancellor for Europe,

Yván Gil

, who highlighted on his social networks that it was an official visit.

The objective of the 48-hour stay is

"to be interested in the humanitarian response to the pandemic, as well as to support the national dialogue in the search for a political solution to the country's crisis

,

"

the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Spain intends to contribute "to the resolution of the current situation in Venezuela and the Venezuelans."

In Gallach's agenda, beyond the representatives of the Maduro government, there are members of the democratic opposition, civil society, academies, companies and NGOs.

The secretary for Latin America and the Caribbean also intends to take the pulse of the Spanish colony, made up of more than 150,000 citizens.

Gallach has landed in Caracas at the worst moment of the pandemic, with a country that suffers a

second wave of infections,

that does not have a vaccination program beyond protecting the Chavista leaders and within hours of knowing Juan's positive Guaidó, president in charge, for coronavirus.

The opposition leader is in

isolation

.

Relations between Spain and Venezuela remain low after the onslaught led by Nicolás Maduro against Minister

Arancha González Laya

, who visited the Cúcuta border a month ago.

The "son of Chávez" announced that he would review "thoroughly and at all levels" relations with Spain, after the "support" of the minister for the "xenophobic policy of Colombia and against Venezuela."

"Get out of Latin America, Foreign Minister of Spain, enough humiliation against Venezuela," pontificated the "People's President."

Today both governments have a charge d'affaires at the head of their embassies in Madrid and Caracas.

The situation is even worse between

Brussels

and Chavismo, after the expulsion of the European ambassador,

Isabel Brilhante

, and the subsequent

expulsion

of Maduro's delegate in Europe.

The Secretary of State takes over from her predecessor,

Juan Pablo DelaIglesia

, who made several trips to Caracas, including in one of them she managed to return to Spain in 2018 with a political prisoner,

Lorent Saleh

, after many months of efforts by the Embassy of Spain.

Currently there are six Spanish political prisoners who are kept in Maduro's dungeons, including Ruperto Sánchez from Valladolid, a lieutenant colonel of Aviation who has exceeded the time of his sentence after almost 7 years in prison but who is not released by the Bolivarian authorities.
