Sisi's advisor: The responsibility of the Suez ship rests with the captain

The advisor to the Egyptian President for Suez Canal projects, Lieutenant General Mohab Mamish, confirmed today that the responsibility for the delinquency of the ship "Evergiven" rests first and foremost with the captain.

He said in an interview with Al-Arabiya that this incident was unprecedented and did not happen in 54 years, and the last time was during the 1967 war.

He added, "We have great competencies, and the delinquent ship incident is an exception, and the history of the Suez Canal confirms the competence of the responsible cadres," adding, "We will not delay in accountability in the event of any errors."

"It is not Egypt's responsibility to compensate the ships," he said, noting that from the first moment of the accident, the Suez Canal cell moved.

"We hope that the ship stuck in the Suez Canal will be released tomorrow," he said.
