A 10-month-old girl was seriously bitten by a Rottweiler on the lower back on Saturday afternoon, north-west of Haute-Garonne, in the town of Brignemont.

The baby, who was not at the family home, was injured in the back before being dragged to the ground by the dog says France Bleu Occitanie.

When she was picked up by the emergency services around 3 p.m., she was in an absolute emergency and was taken to Purpan children's hospital.

Since then, the prognosis of the infant is no longer engaged.

The dog causing the aggression was examined by a veterinarian, in particular to check if he was a carrier of rabies and other diseases.

The gendarmerie for its part opened an investigation.
