The statistics show that between week 1 and week 10 this year, there were 4,557 more people in Sweden who became unemployed compared with jobseekers who got a new job.

But week 10 reversed the trend when 1,697 more people had gotten jobs than became unemployed.

However, this does not apply to Sörmland and Kronoberg, which continue to show negative figures.

And during week 10, Sörmland had the most newly registered unemployed compared with the number of people who got a new job.

- The overall economic picture is positive.

More and more unemployed people are getting jobs while fewer and fewer are losing their footing in the labor market.

The trend is promising, even if it is a small positive number for a short period, says Stefan Westerberg in a press release.

Still many long-term unemployed

At the same time, the increase in the number of people who have been without a job for at least 12 months continues, and this is the case in all counties.

Compared with February 2020, the number of long-term unemployed in the country had increased by 25,933 people in the same month this year.

- The big fear is that the corona crisis, just like the financial crisis, will lead to a persistently higher level of unemployment and that more people will freeze in long-term unemployment, says Stefan Westerberg.
