PTS's survey shows that 95 percent of all households and companies in Sweden had the opportunity to connect to broadband with speeds of 1 Gbit / s in October 2020, which is an increase of 2.8 percentage points compared with 2019.

In Sörmland, the people of Flensburg have been able to take part in the largest broadband development.

Here, 4.92 percentage points more have been able to connect to broadband with speeds of 1 Gbit / s in October 2020 compared with 2019.

The broadband gap is growing in some municipalities

The survey shows that the broadband gap between densely populated and sparsely populated areas remains, even though it is shrinking.

In 2019, 59 percent of all households outside densely populated areas had access to faster broadband.

In 2020, the figure was 68 percent.

In Sörmland, it is again Flen that stands out.

In 2020, almost 20 per cent more people outside the urban area gained access to fixed broadband of at least 100 Mbit / s and almost 17 per cent more gained access to fixed broadband of at least 1 Gbit / s.

At the same time, on the contrary, there has been a reduction in several municipalities in Sörmland.

In Vingåker, access to fixed broadband of at least 100 Mbit / s has decreased by 0.75 percent in 2020 compared with 2019. The reduction of fixed broadband of at least 1 Gbit / s is even greater - 5.85 percent.

Katrineholm residents who live outside the urban area also had poorer access to faster internet and in Trosa there was a reduction in access to fixed internet of at least 1 Gbit / s by 2.87 percent.
