Oberursel (dpa / lhe) - The social democrat Antje Runge was elected the new mayor of Oberursel in the Hochtaunus district by a narrow margin.

In the runoff election on Sunday, she received 51.52 percent of the vote.

48.48 percent of the voters voted for the CDU candidate Carsten Trumpp.

The turnout was 50.76 percent.

The runoff election had become necessary because none of the candidates had achieved the required absolute majority in the March 14 election.

Trumpp came to just under 28 percent at the time, Runge got around 24 percent.

The previous mayor, Hans-Georg Brum (SPD), did not run after three terms in office.
