Berlin (dpa) - Long-time Bayern President Uli Hoeneß has confirmed his sharp statements in the direction of the German Football Association.

He would say "exactly the same thing again today," said the 69-year-old on the Sunday evening before the national team's World Cup qualifier in Romania on RTL.

On Thursday, Hoeneß, as an RTL expert, strongly criticized the DFB because of the leadership dispute at the top of the association.

"This is a tragedy," said the honorary president of FC Bayern.

In addition, Hoeneß defended his proposal to send the current CEO of the record champions, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, to the international bodies of the European Football Union and the world association FIFA.

There are “one or the other” who thought he just wanted to install “his man” from FC Bayern, said Hoeneß.

"These people, who think that way, are completely wrong."

He phrased his remarks like this because he cared “very much” about German football.

Rummenigge had told the "Bild" newspaper that he was not available for a job at the DFB.
