Pirna (dpa) - After the changed classification of the Czech Republic, Tyrol and Slovakia by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the entry restrictions on the Saxon border with the Czech Republic have been reduced.

The Federal Police Directorate in Pirna pointed out on Sunday that a digital entry registration and a negative corona test are still required.

There should be border controls until March 31st.

A decision for then is still pending, it said.

Due to the high incidence values in the Czech Republic and the spread of virus variants in the neighboring country, entry has been severely restricted since the beginning of February.

Germans and foreigners with residence and residence permit were allowed to enter with specifications.

Exceptions were made for doctors, nurses and geriatric nurses as well as truck drivers and seasonal workers in agriculture.

Entry was also possible for humanitarian reasons.

The RKI announced on Friday that it would no longer manage the Czech Republic, Tyrol and Slovakia as virus variant areas from Sunday.

Since Sunday, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have only been considered high-incidence areas, Tyrol as a "simple" risk area.
