Several people were stabbed during a stabbing in the Canadian city of Vancouver on Saturday.

According to authorities, a woman has died and several people have been injured.

Six victims have been taken to hospital, an emergency services spokesperson told

The suspect has been arrested.

According to the police, he has a criminal record, but his identity has not yet been disclosed.

TV channel CTV broadcast images of the suspect's arrest.

It shows that he appears to be stabbing himself in the leg before being overpowered by agents.

A witness said on CTV that the perpetrator probably stung people randomly.

Nothing has yet been announced about the motive of the perpetrator.

He probably acted alone.

The stabbing took place in and near a library in Lynn Valley, an upscale neighborhood in north Vancouver.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Twitter that "his thoughts are on North Vancouver. All those affected by the violent incident in Lynn Valley know that all Canadians are thinking of you and wishing the injured a speedy recovery."
