Meppen (dpa / lni) - SV Meppen has won the north duel with Werder Bremen in the women's Bundesliga and has thus left the two relegation places again.

The Emslanders defeated the promoted team on Sunday 3-2 (2-0).

Alexandra Emmerling, (9th minute), Bianca Becker (43rd) and Vivien Endemann (73rd) shot a seemingly safe 3-0 lead for Meppen.

Michelle Ulbrich (79th) and Ricarda Walkling (85th) brought Werder back in the final phase.

For the Meppen women it was only the second win of the season since the first Bundesliga promotion in the club's history.

In the table, coach Wulf-Rüdiger Müller's team also benefited from the fact that their main competitor SC Sand lost 3-1 to German champions VfL Wolfsburg.
